Hi, Barb,
I am retired from Brown Co. schools after teaching elem. school for 42 years. My only sibling, Becky Igo, died in Apr. 2013. I had moved in with her in late 2012 to help take care of her and her 2 dogs as she fought her 2nd cancer. I've adopted her two dogs, & am caring for an aged cat.
My challenge is my arthritis which is so painful, and requires me sometimes to use my walker, and always to shop with a motorized shopping cart. Not fun, but like Grandma Luva.
I have been wondering about Elizabeth Reed. My cousin-in-law, Lana ( Livezey) Irvin, says that Liz is living in TX and that her husband has passed on. Have you heard anything abut her? My 2nd cousin, Mindy (Millikan) Smith of CO is having her 50th reunion this summer in July, so we are having a family get-together on the following Sunday. I guess that means our 50th reunion would be in 1916.
I love your "Where Is It?" photos in The Courier-Times, but my paper arrives about a week after it is published.
I am going to begin a writing class Jan 27-May 5. I love writing for myself, but have never had the courage to read what I write to others aloud. I am hoping this class will support my overcoming this fear, and develop my skills so I can write a book about my family and our lives as Hoosier workers. I think I want to share how influentional my parents were in developing my sister and my actions and careers as her journalism and my teaching. Life has sure changed in Indiana from the 1950's to 2015, including the loss of personal written communication through letters and use of photos to document Hoosier life.
Good to hear from you,
Diana Igo
